Skeet
The 49th St. Louis Open to be held
July 5th – 8th
is shaping up to be the largest registered Skeet shoot ever
held at our club. To date there are over 150 paid
pre-registrations. Good job, Rex!!
The MSSA Banquet Shoot will be held at the Club on May 12th
and 13th. This annual shoot is held to recognize the
accomplishments of Missouri State Skeet Shooters for the
prior year and to present various awards that have been
earned by members of the Association.
Grounds Maintanence
Over the past several weeks I have had several comments
about how nice the grounds at the club look. I could
not agree more. The grass is mowed and trimmed, the drive
way has been re-stoned and I understand that those two ugly
trailers that greet you when you arrive will be moved to
a less conspicuous location. The credit for much of
this goes to Mark Thompson who heads the Building and Grounds
Committee and also does most of the work. So if you
agree the Club is looking good let Mark know you appreciate
his efforts.
Five Stand
The Thursday night derby is in full swing with 15 to 20
shooters on any given evening. Shooting starts at
4:30 pm with burgers and brats after the shooting. The
new shelter is up so there is now protection from the elements
available. All skill levels are welcome so come on
out and give it a try.
Sporting Clays
The 3rd annual Side by Side and Pump Gun Sporting Clays
Shoot was contested on April 15th. The participants
in this shoot had great weather a nice lunch and a great
day of sporting clays shooting with their side by sides
and pump guns.
The ALS Association held their “Help Shoot down ALS” event
on April 28th. The shoot began at 9:00 am and concluded
with lunch and drinks. There were 30 shooters competing
for awards to the top. According to Dan Cahill the
event was very successful and the ALS Association is planning
for a shoot next year.
AGC held their annual shoot
on April 27th. There were
71 shooters who enjoyed a day of shooting and camaraderie. Top
honors went to the Goedecke Company, Inc. team with a team
score of 270. Top individual honors went to Ted Bauer
with an impressive score of 83.

Ladies Trap League
The Ladies Trap League started on May 3rd with 15 lady shooters.
The report was that they had a great time and were looking
forward to the next shoot on the 10th of May when Rex is
going to do some cooking for them after the shooting is
finished. According to Rex it is not too late to
join the fun so come on out and give it a try. If
you do not have your own gun Rex has everything you need
to participate.
Trap
Pat Couch and the St. Louis Skeet and Trap Club hosted the
Missouri State Eastern Zone Trap Shoot on April
28th and 29th.

Youth Shooting - Bunker (International Trap)
Over the course of athletic history, winning three championships
in a row as a team or individually has been viewed as one
of the greater achievements in sports, but it's hard to
find perspective when a team wins three championships in
a row, three straight times! After six days (March
27th – April 1st) of competition in San Antonio,
Texas, that's exactly what the Lindenwood shotgun sports
program accomplished with its ninth consecutive title at
the 44th Annual ACUI National Clay Target Championships. Lindenwood
finished with a combined total of 2,263 out of 2,350 targets
as a team, 85 ahead of the total for Bethel University,
the second place school at the event.
Lindenwood came within one
point of sweeping all six major team events. The Lions won the American and International
Skeet competitions, the American and International
Trap competitions and the Sporting Clays event,
but finished second in the Five Stand competition just a
single target behind Bethel.
Steve Wirth is very involved in the Lindenwood Bunker program
and serves as a Shooting Volunteer Assistant Coach (International
Trap) to the Lindenwood University Team.
The Missouri State Junior Olympic Bunker Championship will
be held at our club on May 26th & 27th. If you
have never shot or watched a bunker shoot you should plan
to catch this event.
