The Thursday evening 5-stand
Derby is back with challenging targets, some great
people and one of the best ways going to shorten the
long work week.
The official start date is March
12. Shooting gets underway between 5:00 and 5:30.
There’s no such thing as being too late, unless of
course you show up after dark. Then the targets then
become an incredible challenge.
Last year was a great success.
Everyone had a good time, we served some brats and
dogs on the grill and of course there were some
legal libations following the last shot. What really
worked out was everyone bringing one of their
special wild game treats that we grilled up. The
deer tenderloins with that special seasoning were a
hit, coming in a close second the cubed duck and
goose parts. When asked “what is this” and the reply
was “you don’t want to know,” it’s definitely treat
time. We had some excellent food and of course the
conversation and excuses were good too.
So we’re back…seven to eight
traps set for a wide variety of targets that change
every week. After all the shots have been fired, we
figure up the scores, draw for partners and high
score wins. Depending on the number of shooters, we
do have at least one payout for high score and two
payouts if we have over 12 entries.
Thanks to Mr. Jack Whittle and
his challenge, you may even see a battue on the
5-Stand field. I know, just one more target to lower
your score.
So to all of you regulars; Art,
John, Cheryl, Ted, Jack, Peter, Erik, Mark, Don,
Bill, Jim, Steve, Tom, Curt, Dennis, Brad, Mike,
Kenny, Kelly, Craig, and others…get ready for March
12th. The more the better. Come join us.
Good shooting, good food, good conversation. What a
way to end a day.
