5-Stand Derby Update
It’s now been seven weeks since
the club brought back the Thursday night 5-Stand Derby and
despite one rainout and some damp weather, the Derby is
growing. Shooting gets underway between 5:00 and 5:30 with
the first flight taking the field but we shoot until
everyone runs through their 50 birds.
We’ve had up to 15 shooters
trying to get a perfect score but that just hasn’t happened
yet. We’ve come close with Tom Ruck, Randy Lane, Ted Bauer
and Curt Mauldin walking off the field with scores in the
high 40s but no straights yet.
We use seven to eight traps giving shooters a wide variety
of targets that change every week. After all the shots have
been fired, we figure up the scores, draw for partners and
high score wins. Everyone gets a chance to pair up with one
of the Master Class shooters.
Depending on the number of
shooters, we do have at least one payout for high score and
two payouts if we have over 12 entries. Oh…cookout following
the shooting… nothing fancy just dogs on the grill. BYO
libation. If you have questions call me after six
